Atrial Fibrillation Management - Where Are We Heading in 2019?
Description
A compilation of five sessions as presented during the 2019 HRS Scientific Sessions provides a look at AF Management and Treatment options. The five sessions include:

S-043 Anticoagulation in Challenging Clinical Settings -
Patients with comorbidities like renal disease, CAD or after cryptogenic stroke as well as patients in special situations like e.g. ablation are difficult to manage in terms of stroke prevention. Come and find out how renowned experts in the field try to solve unsolvable clinical settings.

S-051 The Future Roadmap of AF Management - Where Are We Heading in 2019? -
The management of AF is a complex process requiring a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team approach. This session will cover the significant 'pillars' of AF management (i.e. rate/rhythm control, stroke prevention, cardiovascular risk factor management) and demonstrates the role of a patient-centered Integrated Care Management strategy.

S-069 Stroke Prevention in AF: 2019 Therapy Update Core Curriculum -
This session will provide an overview of the current pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic options for stroke prevention in patients with AF. It will include updates on prescribing recommendations, drug interactions and reversal agents for anticoagulants. It will review LAA ligation and occlusion procedures - patient selection and follow up care. It will also cover the periprocedural management of patients on oral anticoagulants.

S-083 Device-Detected Subclinical AF of <24 Hour Duration: To Treat or Not to Treat? -
In this session, world-experts will debate the use of oral anticoagulant therapy to treat pacemaker and ICD patients with subclinical atrial fibrillation.

S-AF03 AF Summit - Approaches to Management of AF -
The AF Summit is a highlighted program that will provide a comprehensive update on discoveries and advancements in AF management. The session will cover evolutions in AF management that are taking place in 2019 based upon the science that has accumulated over the past year. This session will include lectures by leading experts in novel aspects of AF management as well as debates on contemporary controversies impacting clinical practice.

CME Disclosure Policy

The Heart Rhythm Society is committed to the provision of Continuing Medical Education (CME) that is balanced, objective, and evidence-based. The Heart Rhythm Society adheres to the Standards for Commercial Support (SCS) of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) which requires that those individuals in a position to control the content of an educational activity (including planners, faculty, authors, committee members, content reviewers, editors, and staff) disclose all relevant* financial relationships (for self and for individual's spouse/partner) with an ACCME-defined commercial interest** from the preceding 12 months.

Any individual who refuses to disclose financial relationships is disqualified from participating in HRS educational activities. Employees and Owners of ACCME-defined commercial interests may have no role in the planning or implementation of CME activities without a special exception from the HRS Chief Learning Officer that is granted only in specific circumstances that meet stringent ACCME requirements.

ACCME Definitions:

*Relevant financial relationships are financial relationships in any amount, which occurred in the twelve-month period preceding the time that the individual was asked to assume a role controlling content of the CME activity, and which relate to the content of the educational activity, causing a conflict of interest. The ACCME considers financial relationships to create conflicts of interest in CME when individuals have both a financial relationship with a commercial interest and the opportunity to affect the content of CME about the products or services of that commercial interest.

**A commercial interest is any entity producing, marketing, re-selling, or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients. The ACCME does not consider providers of clinical service directly to patients to be commercial interests - unless the provider of clinical service is owned, or controlled by, an ACCME-defined commercial interest.
