Mapping of Complex Arrhythmias: Auxiliary Approaches to Improve Outcomes
Description
Mapping for understanding and guiding ablation of complex arrhythmias is challenging due to poor understanding of arrhythmia mechanisms and technological limits. This session will present and discuss common and proposed auxiliary interventional approaches to overcome knowledge and mapping limitations and to enhance targeted ablation for termination of complex arrhythmias.
Learning Objectives
Learn about experimental and validated interventions in the clinic to enhance mapping for arrhythmia research and ablation.
Learn about pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to enhance mapping for arrhythmia research and ablation.
Learn about computational methods to enhance interventions and mapping for arrhythmia research and ablation.

Education Framework
Diagnostic Testing
-- Invasive EP Testing
-- 29. Know the methods of programmed electrical stimulation, including the roles of provocative drug testing/stimulation, and characteristic findings in patients with pathologic conduction disease or tachyarrhythmias.
General Concepts
-- Pathophysiological Basis of Cardiac Arrhythmias and Basic EP
-- 6. Know the mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias including re-entry, triggered activity, and abnormal automaticity, as well as associated triggers such as ischemia, changes in autonomic tone, and drugs.
Diagnostic Testing
-- Invasive EP Testing
-- 31. Skill to perform invasive EP study including placing sheaths in the venous and arterial systems, positioning diagnostic catheters in the heart, measuring intervals, and performing diagnostic pacing maneuvers in patients with normal hearts, acquired structural heart disease, or corrected or uncorrected congenital heart disease.
