The Autonomic Nervous System – The Next Ablation Frontier? (non-ACE) (Joint Session)
Description
This session explores the influence of the autonomic nervous system on cardiovascular/electrophysiological responses and the results of autonomic modulation including ablation techniques.

A joint session with American Heart Association (AHA).
Learning Objectives
  • Describe the functional anatomy of the extrinsic and intrinsic cardiac autonomic nervous system and how this lends itself to neuromodulation.
  • Explain techniques of ablation and modulation of the ANS in treatment of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias.
  • Discuss the benefits and long-term risks of autonomic modulation in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
Session Chair(s)
John Day, MD
Rakesh Gopinathannair, MA, MBA, MD
