Core Concepts in EP for Remote Monitoring 2023
Description
Core Concepts in Remote Monitoring is a repository of basic knowledge specific to remote monitoring in electrophysiology. The course provides practical, technical knowledge and specific, individualized device information and assessment. Modules are released on a rolling basis, balancing ACE credit opportunities with industry involvement to provide an overall balanced learning experience. Modules cover best practices in remote monitoring, current remote monitoring guidelines, clinic management and staffing, clinical patient care, patient care theory, date managements, and future initiatives in remote monitoring. 

The content for this module will be available on a rolling, module-by-module basis, starting with The Current State of Remote Monitoring, in October 2023. Pre-purchasers will receive a notification when the content is published. 
Learning Objectives
  • Become familiar with the updated guidelines and best practices for remote monitoring as outlined in the new 2023 HRS/EHRA/APHRS/LAHRS Expert Consensus Statement on Practical Management of the Remote Device Clinic.
  • Identify key changes made in the 2023 Concensus document as compared to the 2015 Remote Monitoring Guidelines. 
  • Review the growing number of digital patient wearable health devices that are enabled to play a role in the remote monitoring of cardiac conditions and the specific strengths and challenges that are associated with them. 
  • Interpret data from sample remote monitoring cases and review diagnostics and case management with experts in the field.

CME Disclosure Policy

The Heart Rhythm Society is committed to the provision of Accredited Continuing Education (formerly known as Continuing Medical Education (CME)) that is balanced, objective, and evidence based. HRS adheres to the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) which require that those individuals in a position to control the content of an educational activity (including, but not limited to, planners, faculty, authors, committee members, content reviewers, editors, and staff) disclose all financial relationships with an ACCME-defined ineligible company* within the 24 months prior to the disclosure.

 

Any individual who refuses to disclose financial relationships is disqualified from participating in HRS ACE-certified activities. Owners and employees of ACCME-defined ineligible companies may have no role in the planning or implementation of ACE activities without a special written exemption from the HRS Chief Learning Officer that will be granted only in specific circumstances that meet ACCME requirements.


ACCME Definition:

*An ineligible company is one whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.

Examples of such organizations include:

  • Advertising, marketing, or communication firms whose clients are ineligible companies
  • Bio-medical startups that have begun a governmental regulatory approval process
  • Compounding pharmacies that manufacture proprietary compounds
  • Device manufacturers or distributors
  • Diagnostic labs that sell proprietary products
  • Growers, distributors, manufacturers or sellers of medical foods and dietary supplements
  • Manufacturers of health-related wearable products
  • Pharmaceutical companies or distributors
  • Pharmacy benefit managers
  • Reagent manufacturers or sellers

 

All relevant financial relationships have been mitigated.

 

 

Content Validation Policy

Scientific Validity - those scientific studies cited in the activity conform to standards accepted by the scientific community.

Learning Objectives - that the educational content supports the learning objectives of the activity, and that the objectives stated for performance-in-practice are actionable and measurable.

Omissions - that no seminal studies, data, or best evidence are missing.
